Empowering Young Minds Through Newspapers

As a part of our commitment to experiential and activity-based learning, Anand Niketan Sughad has effectively integrated the News in Education (NIE) programme into the classroom. The daily newspaper serves as an engaging learning resource that enhances students' language proficiency, critical thinking, creativity, and general awareness.

Students actively participated in a variety of newspaper-based activities featured in the NIE section, including Sudoku, Connect the Dots, Riddleculous, Tiny Tongue Twisters, Quiz-Avatara, Terminology Tavern, Know Your Word Usage, Go Figure, Caption Writing, Word Search, and Amaze (Maze Puzzle). These activities made learning enjoyable while strengthening vocabulary, logical reasoning, spelling, grammar, observation skills, and problem-solving abilities.

At Anand Niketan Sughad teachers encourage students to read, discuss, and reflect on current events, improving their reading comprehension, writing skills, communication skills, and confidence. Interactive tasks such as creating captions, solving puzzles, and participating in quizzes fostered collaboration, creativity, and analytical thinking in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

The NIE initiative has transformed newspapers into a powerful educational tool, helping students become informed, curious, and responsible citizens. Through consistent participation, learners developed a habit of reading, expanded their knowledge beyond textbooks, and enhanced their overall personality and life skills.
