Farming

'Without hard work, nothing grows but weeds'

It is important for students to build a real connection and relationship with the world in which they live in. Teaching farming to young, primary school students enhances their knowledge about agriculture as they gain a brief overview about the process involved in growing vegetables.

Keeping the same in view, a plot of land near Anand Niketan, Sughad has been turned into a mini model farm. A few growing beds have been prepared where the children of grades 3 to 5 have planted aubergine, okra, fenugreek and coriander seeds.

The kids joyfully participated in the farming activities and were excited to dig into the soil, plant seeds and water them. They removed the weeds to make the land conducive for the growth of vegetables.

Starting agricultural education at a young age helps children get perspective on their lives and the importance of nature around them. When children learn to nurture nature they are learning a very important life skill.
