Continuous Professional Development
Workshops and teacher trainings are important as they help teachers learn new skills, improve their teaching practices, and stay updated on modern trends. Learning can be in form of workshops, seminars, online courses or peer learning opportunities. Our teachers also strive hard to excel on this parameter, which is now mandatory according to NEP 2020.
Maths workshop conducted on 26 July by Syed F Sattar was such a workshop which provided our educators guidance regarding how to make mathematics learning joyful. The main goal of maths education in schools is the ‘mathematisation’ of a child’s thinking. Clarity of thought and pursuing assumptions to logical conclusions is central to the mathematical enterprise. In a similar vein, this workshop-built teacher capacities in the following areas ways of communicating mathematically, recreation with mathematics (joy in mathematics), allowing students to make errors while learning/practising.
Similarly a webinar was organized by Ms. Sutapa Basu author of book The English Tree on 18th October. She emphasized creative ways to conduct English classes and the pivotal role English teachers play in enhancing language learning. The methods she explained for inculcating listening skills in the students were worth appreciating. The pedagogy for clear understanding of Grammar, reading and vocabulary was discussed in detail with a methodology to apply it in practice in the classroom.
On 19th October another impactful workshop was conducted by Mr. Kalpesh Amin which was a structured and interactive session. The flow and content was really impressive and worth appreciating. Furthermore, the regular training and brainstorming of the teachers on every 2nd and 4th Saturday through online webinar was the most important and useful input.
